Barron Trump has been sparking rumors that he could fall on the autism spectrum. A journalist claimed that the 13-year-old has been showing similar behavior to those who have been clinically diagnosed with the condition.
Samuel Alioto, a staff writer for the Santa Monica Observer, said that he has noticed how Donald Trump and Melania Trump’s only son refuses to speak to other people or to shake their hands. Barron also seemingly wobbles when he walks, and he could be described as socially awkward.
One of the obvious indications that someone may be suffering from autism is if they avoid making eye contact. During his engagements, it is very seldom for the teenager to look his parents in the eye or interact with them.
The journalist added that there is also a connection between the child and the age of his parents. Since Trump was already in his 60s when he had Barron, it is possible that his old age impacted his son's development.
Alioto tried to make sense of why it has become very important for the first lady to focus on bullying, particularly on social media, as one of her initiatives. He said that it is possible for Barron to be bullied because of his condition.
“Barron might be bullied by other boys for his autism, which is why the new First Lady wants to focus on bullying, especially on social media, as her cause,” he wrote.
Years ago, the POTUS also shared his thoughts on vaccine and autism whilst using an unnamed child as an example. The president said that he’s in favor of vaccines but only want them in small doses.
“Just the other day, 2 years old, 2 and a half years old, a child, a beautiful child went to have the vaccine and came back, and a week later got a tremendous fever, got very, very sick, now is autistic,” he said.
Following his statement, netizens started speculating that Trump might have been talking about his personal experience with his youngest son.
As of late, there hasn’t been any confirmation that Barron falls on the autism spectrum. As such, the claims made by the journalist should be taken with a grain of salt.
However, it is also important to note that he’s not the only one who thinks that Barron has autism. Rosie O’Donnell previously shared her thoughts on Twitter, but the FLOTUS accused her of bullying her son.
